Angelina Jolie has ended her 5-year wall of silence aimed at her dad, actor Jon Voight, by reaching out to him with a telephone call. The pair hadn’t spoken since Voight told said during a TV interview in June 2002 that he hoped Angelina would get help for her “serious emotional problems”. She was married to Billy Bob Thornton at the time.
According to the National Enquirer (and who can doubt a story in the Enquirer?!?), Ange called her pops on Christmas day while she and Brad and the kids were in New Orleans.
"It was a short call, but it meant the world to both of them. It was something for them to build on, and Jon couldn't say enough good things about the way his daughter is conducting her life," said a source.
Voight, 69, has been trying to apologize to his daughter for years. Last month he said, “I’m very impressed with Angelina’s work, with some of the humanitarian things, and she’s a great actress.
“I am always thinking of Brad and the kids. I’m sending my love that way.”
