Winona Ryder has won a role of young Spock’s mother in the new Star Trek movie.
The movie, due for release in December next year, will also star Just My Luck's Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Heroes’ Zachary Quinto as Spock, British actor Simon Pegg as Scotty and Hulk star Eric Bana as villain Nero.
The 11th Star Trek film will show the Starship Enterprise crew meeting at the Starship Academy and embarking on their first intergalactic mission.
Winona will have to wear prosthetic pointy ears for her role.
