Will Smith, Kanye West and Spike Lee are among the stars nominated for the inaugural J.A.M awards set-up in memory of murdered hip hop star Jam Master Jay.
The awards aim to recognise outstanding efforts in promoting social justice, arts and music and seek to promote music and arts education among urban schools.
Chuck D, Dr Cornell West and Smith are nominated for the Justice Award. Lee, Robert L. Johnston and Lee Quinones are nominated in the Arts category. While West, Nelly and Wyclef Jean are up for the Music Award.
Run DMC star Jam Master Jay was shot in his studio in October 2002.
The awards will be held on November 29 in New York.
