Ne-Yo has been dropped from R. Kelly’s tour after just two shows, the R&B singer’s representative says.
"I am disappointed that I won't be able to perform for my fans," Ne-Yo says in a statement. "I love being onstage in front of fans because of the immediate feedback you get. You know right away if they are feeling you — and they were really feeling our show."
The R&B star was axed from the tour on Monday night after Ne-Yo’s representatives and the tour promoter were unable to agree on contract terms, Kelly’s camp says.
"This was a contractual issue between Ne-Yo and the promoter, not Kelly's decision at all," Kelly's spokesperson says.
However, Ne-Yo says he was given the boot because his set was more popular than Kelly’s.
“I believe it was because the first few reviews of the show, people were talking more about my set than his," he told BET.
