Lindsay Lohan began her community service for her DUI conviction at an American Red Cross blood center on Monday. She arrived around noon, where she was greeted by staff in the parking lot before walking into the building. It's not known what kind of "work" she did during her 7 hours at the facility, but she was photographed leaving at the end of the day with a book titled "Blood" tucked under her arm.
Lindsay, 21, was sentenced to the mandatory minimum of four days in jail for her second DUI conviction, prosecutors agreed she could serve 10 days of community service in lieu of two days behind bars.
Her father Michael Lohan says the actress is getting back to her childhood with her community service at the Red Cross. "When she was younger I had her at hospitals, visiting cancer patients and sick kids," he tells People. "I know she wants to do stuff like this, mission work."
Her once-estranged father says he talked to Lindsay after her first day of work on Monday. "I asked her how it was going and she said she is really enjoying it," he said. "She's happy."
