Oscar winner Cate Blanchett has also confirmed she’s expecting a baby.
The baby will be the third for Cate, 38, and husband Andrew Upton.
The pair already has two sons, aged five and three.
Cate’s pregnancy is not expected to stop the couple taking on the roles of joint artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company early next year.
The couple’s appointment has caused controversy within the city's theatre world.
One actor quit the theatre group, reportedly saying: "An Oscar for acting is not a suitable recommendation to run the biggest theatre company in the country."
