Usher says he doesn’t understand the negative press his wedding to Tameka Foster attracted earlier this year.
The R&B superstar wed pregnant Foster at his lawyer’s office in Atlanta this summer. The low-key wedding followed the last minute cancellation of a celebrity ceremony at music mogul L.A. Reid’s home in July.
The cancellation sparked reports that the pair didn’t wed at the planned ceremony because Usher’s mom Jonetta Patton and Foster didn’t get on.
"It was like, `Wow!' [Getting married] and having a child is something that everyone should celebrate. What's happened to us as a culture and a people?" Usher told ‘Essence’.
