Tiger Woods, the richest golfer if not the richest athlete of all times, has scored a $100 million deal to promote a new sports performance drink. "Gatorade Tiger" will debut in March, with such standard flavors as cherry, citrus and grape. Golfweek reported that Wood will make the cash spread out over a five-year deal.
Gatorade Tiger will be marketed as a sub-line of Gatorade Thirst Quencher, meaning it will have the same basic recipe but will come in different flavors: cherry blend, citrus blend and grape. More flavors will follow later but these three are the ones Tiger liked.
The golf superstar already has deals to endorse products including Nike, Gillette, and Buick, and the new deal will move him close to the $1 billion mark in career endorsements.
It's believed Tiger will get some sort of royalty deal from PepsiCo's Gatorade, in the neighborhood of 8 percent to 30 percent of wholesale sales from the drink.
