"This is a hellhole beyond your wildest dreams," Sly Stallone told the AP after the recent slaughter of monks in Burma. The actor was speaking about his experience filming his latest "Rambo" sequel across the border in Thailand. "I witnessed the aftermath - survivors with legs cut off and all kinds of land-mine injuries, maggot-infested wounds and ears cut off."
We saw many elephants with blown off legs. We hear about Vietnam and Cambodia and this was more horrific,'' Stallone told Associated Press.
Stallone made the movie on the border of Thailand and Myanmar where the genocide is going on.
"Shots were fired over the film crew's heads and we did receive threats," he said.
The script of "John Rambo" features the Vietnam-era Green Beret taking a group of mercenaries up the Salween River to rescue Christian aid workers being held hostage in Burma, or Myanmar as the country is called by the current military dictatorship there.
So Sly, why not make a film about the real life tragedy and forget about play-acting Rambo? Turns out - he is.
Sly is now planning to interview survivors and use 'John Rambo' to tell their story.
