Scottish actor Ewan McGregor says he's tired of Britain's "nanny state culture" and after having seen how the rest of the world lives from his world travels, he's thinking it may be time to move elsewhere. Ewan told Radio Times magazine: "Our trip really opened my eyes to how insane the rules are everywhere in Britain - CCTV cameras everywhere, congestion charges - it's just a ludicrous nanny state."
The Star Wars and Trainspotting star added: "If anything drives me out of the country it will be that, not tax - I don't earn enough!"
Ewan's motorcycle world tour was document in the film "Long Way Round" and he recently completed another dream trip: a 15,000-mile motorcycle ride around Africa, where he found people are still allowed to take care of themselves - if they chose to do so. "Health and safety is out of control too [in Britain]. In Africa, garage attendants smoked as they filled the bikes up with petrol. I took great pleasure in that."
The Scot said he was touched by the kindness offered to him in Africa.
"People are nice to us because we're travellers, and the most generous and happiest are often those who have the least, whereas in Britain we're devastatingly depressed, yet have so much," McGregor said.
