Emmy-winning actress America Ferrera says she had to move out of her Hollywood home after network bosses ruled she was at risk to attracking stalkers. Even though no threats were made, the rising star was advised to find a house with better security after they discovered how close fans could get to her. After all, the 'Ugly Betty' celebrity has just been named 'Hispanic Woman of the Year' by the Hollywood Reporter and Billboard and she stars in one of the top programs on prime time TV.
Of her apartment move, she explained: "There was a security issue. I was living in an apartment in Hollywood where the windows faced the street. I always left them open because there was an air conditioning unit hooked up to the outside."
"I was told that was probably not such a good idea. Anyone could look straight into the apartment, so I decided it was time to move."
"I try to keep as low key as I can, and be safe as I go about my daily routine. Luckily it takes a lot to shake me up."
Ferrera and 25 other Latina celebrities were honored at the inaugural Hispanic Women in Entertainment breakfast held on October 9.
