Britney Spears made a "come back" appearance at the meaningless VMA Awards last night but only managed to embarrass herself again. Not only did she manage to forget the words to her latest single "Gimme More" - which wasn't a big problem since she was obviously lip-syching - her dance moves were wooden and then had to hear comedianne Sarah Silverman slam her right after she left the stage:
“Britney Spears, everyone!" Silverman said, "She is amazing. She is 25 years old, and she’s already accomplished everything she’s going to accomplish in her life.”
Opening the show with a tight shot on Britney's face, the camera pulled out to reveal the pudgy Spears decked out in a skimpy outfit of just a black bra, black undies and black high heel boots. And nothing else. Oh, and a bad blonde wig.
She gyrated with the male dancers and around the female pole dancers with moves that would embarrass Herman Munster while doing her whispy voiced, out-of-synch lip-synching (some moments she didn't even bother and just covered her mouth), a fact that wasn't lost on the entertainers in the audience.
"It definitely could have been a lot better," singer and producer Akon commented afterward. "She seemed nervous ... you could tell by the expression on her face. Instead of just blocking everybody out and doing her thing, you could tell she was thinking about it."
