Have all criminal charges been dropped in Mexico against TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman? TMZ is reporting that the Dog, his son Leland and another member of his crew, who are wanted for illegal bounty hunting in Mexico, may be off the hook.
The trio were charged with "deprivation of liberty" for seizing escaped convict Andrew Luster in 2003 in Puerto Vallarta, hauling his sorry ass back to the US and returning him to jail.
TMZ couldn't immediately confirm that all the charges were dropped against Chapman, but his attorney told the Web site that he "received a favorable ruling from the people in Puerto Vallarta. The extent of that ruling is unknown as we are still in the process of translating it." But if the charges are dropped at this ruling, prosecutors in Puerto Vallarta have until August 8 to appeal.
Had Dog been successfully extradicted and found guilty in a Mexican court, he faced four years in a Mexican jail. Meanwhile Luster, a serial rapist, is now serving a 124-year prison sentence.
In other news, Dog's book, "You Can Run But You Can't Hide" will be published in August. It tells about Chapman's days as a gang member and the 18 months he spent in a Texas prison, which he says turned his life around.
