Rap star Twista has been dumped by a tour organised by burger chain McDonald’s because of his controversial lyrics.
The super-fast rapper was lined up to perform at a concert for Maccy D’s in Chicago next month but the fast food chain has pulled him from the line-up saying it would not "perpetuate derogatory language".
Twista says he’s shocked by McDonald’s decision, saying he performs watered down versions of his songs for mainstream shows and that’s what he planned to do for the Chicago concert.
"I was actually going to have a school with a choir come sing the song ‘Hope’ with me,” he says.
"So now McDonald's have to tell the kids that they can't perform," said the musician.
McDonald's spokesman William Whitman has said the company "respects free speech and expression".
"We want to ensure these free concerts are fun as well as appropriate for all of our customers," he added.
The tour, which hits 10 US cities this summer, features 12 acts including R&B star Ne-Yo and reggae singer Kat De Luna.
