Former "The View" hostess Star Jones has finally admitted what has long been rumored: that she did indeed have gastric bypass surgery in August of 2003. She tells Glamour magazine why she couldn't fess up before about her massive weight loss: "Lying was never an option for me, so I called it a 'medical intervention,' which was true. But it was really a pathetic attempt to tell the only truth I could handle at the time."
Star says she was ashamed that she wasn't able to get herself under control without having the surgery, but after much therapy, she decided to admit the truth.
She says, "My therapist helped me discover that I needed the adoration of others to make me feel good about myself."
At her heaviest, Star weighed in at 307 pounds. As a result of her surgery, Star has lost 160 pounds.
