TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman is upset with a $300,000 US federal bond that hangs over his head even though a Mexican judge has dismissed charges against him, his son Leland, and work partner Tim, in the capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster. TMZ.com reports the US government has issued an order not to release the bond because a judge need "more time" to work on the case.
The US Magistrate judge also told the Dog that he was out of luck as far as a speedy resolve: the judge is "going on vacation through October" and won't be able to give it a determination until he gets back.
Dog and wife Beth told TMZ.com that they were "devastated."
"We love this country," they said, "and are proud to be Americans, so this is absolutely
devastating that we can now roam free in Mexico, but not in our own country."
Chapman's nonfiction book "You Can Run But You Can't Hide" is No. 5 on the Publishers Weekly's best-sellers list for the week of Aug. 20.
