Beyonce and Justin Timberlake lead the nominees for this year's MTV Video Music Awards, with seven nominations each.
Both stars will compete for the VMA’s top award, video of the year. Beyonce is nominated for her Irreplaceable video, while Justin received the nod for his 'What Goes Around…Comes Around' video, which co-starred Hollywood babe Scarlett Johansson.
The other nominees for the top award are Rihanna’s unstoppable 'Umbrella', Kanye West’s 'Stronger' and British singer Amy Winehouse’s 'Rehab'.
Kanye West is nominated for five awards, including male artist of the year. He’s hoping to pick up the video of the year award after losing out last year.
"I come to win. I don't come to lose," West told TRL. "I think there's some really strong competition this year."
Rihanna is also nominated for five awards, with 'Umbrella' nominated for monster single of the year.
Amy Winehouse has received three nominations, including female artist of the year. She’ll compete with fellow British newcomer Lily Allen in the best new artist category.
Performers at the 24th VMA ceremony, which takes place on September 9 in Las Vegas, include Kanye West, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Chris Brown and Fall Out Boy.
Super-producer Timbaland will act as DJ for the night.
