Heartthrob Zac Efron, 20, who is best known as a star of the hit TV movies, "High School Musical", and the upcoming "Hairspray", has signed on to do a remake of the 1984 classic "Footloose", the film that made a star out of Kevin Bacon. Zac will play Ren McCormack, that crazy-in-love-with-dancing boy who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music are forbidden. And, yep, this script turns "Footloose" into a full-blown musical.
TVariety is reporting that a third installment of the insanely popular "High School Musical" is in development at Disney Channel which will mean yet ANOTHER musical for Zac.
Meanwhile, Zac and co-star Vanessa Anne Hudgens, are having a reportedly on-again, off-again romance -- which currently appears to be back on. Vanessa has been seen with him at the MTV Movie awards show in early June, as well as at the Hairspray premiere last night at the Mann Village Theatre in Los Angeles.
