The Emmy award nominations were announced this morning and "The Sopranos" are gonna wrap up their final season with a bada-bing. James Gandolfini is nominated again as best drama actor and his competition this year includes Kiefer Sutherland of "24," Denis Leary of "Rescue Me," Hugh Laurie of "House," and James Spader of "Boston Legal." Odds-on favorite this year: Hugh Laurie. What?? No Wentworth Miller?? Grrrrrrr!!!
For top dramatic actress the noms are: Mariska Hargitay for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Patricia Arquette "Medium," Minnie Driver "The Riches," Edie Falco "The Sopranos," Sally Field "Brothers & Sisters" and Kyra Sedgwick of "The Closer."
The nominees for top drama are "Boston Legal" and "Grey's Anatomy," "Heroes," Fox's "House" and "The Sopranos."
The choices for top comedy series are "Ugly Betty," "Entourage," "Two and a Half Men" "30 Rock" and "The Office." "The Office" won last year and seems the favorite this year.
The nominees for comedy actor are Alec Baldwin of "30 Rock," Steve Carell of "The Office," Ricky Gervais of "Extras," Charlie Sheen of "Two and a Half Men" and Tony Shalhoub of "Monk."
Comedy-actress candidates are America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty," Tina Fey of "30 Rock," Felicity Huffman of "Desperate Housewives," Mary-Louise Parker of "Weeds" and Julia Louis-Dreyfus of "The New Adventures of Old Christine."
The nominees for reality competition are "American Idol," "Dancing With the Stars," "Project Runway." "Top Chef" and "The Amazing Race." "The Amazing Race" has won the award the last four years.
The HBO movie "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" led all categories with 17 nominations. "The Sopranos" collected 15, while "Ugly Betty" nabbed 11 and "Grey's Anatomy" and "30 Rock" scored 10 nominations each.
The winners will be announced Sept. 16 on Fox.

I sure hope HUGH LAURIE wins after being snubbed last year, but where's GERALD MCRANEY???
He did a wonderful job on DEADWOOD and JERICHO!
I am very disappointed.
