Singer Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, have been ordered to pay their ex-chef compensation after losing their sexual discrimination court battle.
Jane Martin, 41, was awarded $50,000 in her case against the pair claiming she was sacked by Styler after she became pregnant.
The sum includes $20,000 for hurt feelings and $32,000 for loss of earnings.
Martin claims she had to work 14-hour days despite being pregnant, before being sacked from her job after 8 years.
James Simpson, chairman of the employment tribunal said he had expected the claim would have been much higher.
“The tribunal was therefore surprised when Mr Norman, for the claimant, suggested the figure of £10,000 and that the claimant was not seeking aggravated damages or costs," he said.
Adding the compensation for loss of earnings was set after Martin argued she had been unable to find employment similar to her role for the famous couple, rather than in hotels and restaurants.
"The tribunal accepts the claimant's qualifications and experience do not equip her for employment in hotels and restaurants generally and it would be unreasonable to expect her now to seek such employment," he said.
