Rapper Lil Wayne did his first major gig in New York City at the Beacon Theater Sunday night, but then got a sour taste of his Big Apple debut when he was busted for pot and a weapons charge. An NYPD spokesperson said that Wayne's tour bus was pulled over at around 11:30 p.m. After searching the vehicle, police arrested Wayne for criminal possession of a .40 caliber pistol and possession of marijuana. Ja Rule was arrested in a different location, an hour earlier, also for possession of a .40 caliber pistol.
Ja Rule was arrested when his luxury sedan was speeding when the cops pulled it over. He and other occupants of the car were busted when cops found the gun.
During his show on Sunday night, Miami's Lil Wayne made comments from the stage about being hassled by police prior to his set, and threatened not to ever perform in New York again.
