Rafael Nadal has completed a French Open hat-trick by beating Roger Federer 6-3 4-6 6-3 6-4 in the final at Roland Garros. The Spaniard beat the usually unbeatable Federer in the final for the second year in succession. The feat now ranks Rafa, who is 21-0 in Paris, as tied with Bjorn Borg as only the second mens player in history to win the French three years in a row.
Federer has won all of the other three major titles in his career but Nadal has proved to be his nemesis on the Paris clay.
When asked what the win meant to him, Rafa said: "Oh, sure, very happy, no? For me have three Grand Slams is a dream. Well, when I am started the season in Australia, I was playing not very well. And I can't imagine something like this at this moment, no, so winning five titles and three Masters Series, and this one.
So, very, very happy about my game and not only my performance on clay, but on hard, too, before the clay season."
Rafa is still No. 2 in the rankings, but he leads the tour in 2007 with five titles and 43 matches won.
