Paris Hilton received "preferential treatment" by being let out of jail early, a senior law enforcement official has said, stating the obvious.
The hotel heiress was only allowed to serve the rest of her sentence under house arrest because she's famous, Steve Remige, the president of the Association Of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs has claimed.
"There appears to have been preferential treatment. This is not the first time that this has happened. Remember Mel Gibson?" he told TMZ.com.
"On any given day, a thousand female inmates are in custody. Why is one case, out of the blue, treated any different than them?"
Paris was sentenced to 23-days in a Los Angeles jail for violating the terms of her parole, but served just three days behind bars.
She'll serve 45 days, the term initially agreed in court, at her home. She has 40 days of the sentence remaining.
