According to a report from Cinema Blend there will be a 4th "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, with Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush in the lead roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa. Orlando Bloom's and Kiera Knightley's characters will not be part of the story. There are also rumors that the film, to be directed again by Gore Verbinski, could have a science fiction slant.
"Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, a encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before," Moviehole quoted an insider saying.
