George Michael has been banned from driving for two years and sentenced to 100 hours of community service for driving under the influence of drugs.
The troubled pop star, whose real name is George Panayiotou, was found slumped at the wheel of his car in north London last October.
I had done something really wrong in putting other people at risk," Michael told Brent Magistrates' Court.
The singer was also ordered to pay costs of $4,622.
Outside the court, Michael read a statement saying: "I would simply ask you to understand that the media coverage of this case has been farcical, concentrating almost entirely on the prosecution's allegations."
Adding: "In reality I have been sentenced today on the basis of unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medicines, which I fully accept responsibility for.
