Paris Hilton’s psychiatrist has said the socialite is so “distraught and traumatized” over her 45 day jail sentence that she needs time to recover from the shock before she can testify in a civil lawsuit against her.
Dr. Charles Sophy has been speaking to Hilton for the last eight months including several times since the reality star’s May 4 hearing for violating the terms of her probation in a drink-driving case.
Now Hilton has to testify in a civil case filed against her by actress/ heiress Zeta Graff.
Hilton is "distraught and traumatized as a consequence of the findings at the May 4 hearing ... and her fear of incarceration," Sophy said in court papers filed on Monday.
"At this point in time…Ms. Hilton cannot effectively respond to examination as a witness or provide any significant input into her defense."
A judge postponed the trial, which was due to start this month, to August.
