In a bit of odd casting, Frodo is about to star as a punk God. Elijah Wood is set to play Iggy Pop in a biopic about the legendary rocker called "The Passenger". Except for the large blue eyes, Elijah looks almost nothing like Iggy in the face, not to mention the shirtless Stooge was forever buff. If Elijah is going to re-scupt his body he will have to be hitting the gym, uh, a lot. They should have done this movie 10 years ago and cast Anthony Kiedis.
Elijah has said of the project: "I'm scared to death of doing [the film], because I love him (Iggy Pop) so much and I respect the music so much. I don't want to be the person responsible for screwing that up."
According to Daily Variety, the "Lust for Life" singer has "given his blessing to the project but will not take part in it".
The rocker, now 60, said: "The script ain't chopped liver. It was a work of art. But subjectively, I don't want to be involved in any way. A producer and the writer sent me a very decent letter, and asked me to write back if I didn't want them to do it. I don't feel negative about it at all."
The Stooges - who split in 1974 - reunited in 2003 and have recently completed a tour showcasing their first album in over 30 years, called 'The Weirdness'.
