Richard Gere says he isn't bothered that a warrant's out for his arrest in India for planting an "obscene kiss" on the cheek of an Indian actress in public. Yesterday, an Indian judge issued a warrant for Gere's arrest in Jaipur, saying that the actor had "transgressed all limits of vulgarity" when he hugged and kissed Shilpa Shetty at an AIDS benefit.
Speaking on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart last night, he said: "Me kissing the girl on the cheek was nothing."
"There is a very small right-wing, very conservative political party in India and they are the moral police in India ... they do this kind of thing quite often.
"It goes to a reputable court and it gets thrown out."

Please don’t spread misinformation. It’s a small town judge in a very large country. Chill guys. In a country of about a billion people and hundreds of towns and cities a few dozen people go out burning effigies on the streets of no more than four towns and the media there screams ‘ The Kiss that Shocked India ‘ or Jon Stewart on the Daily Show - ” Protests Rock India ”. Indians including Shilpa Shetty ( the actress in question ) didn’t care much about it. And please stop asking people to respect our conservative culture. We ain’t no Saudi Arabia. We gave the world the Kamasutra, the sculptures of Khajuraho, the raunchy Bollywood movies and the anuual Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar ( scantier clothed models than those in Victoria’s Secret’s calendar )
