Actress Jodie Foster is under attack by Out, one of America's top gay magazines who feature her prominently in a new article "The Glass Closet: Why the stars won't come out and play." The new issue features a list of "The Power 50" of America's most influential gay men and women.
The May issue's cover shows two models holding masks of Foster and CNN newsman Anderson Cooper over their faces. According to the editors, the controversial cover image is "a sly commentary on the way that semi-closeted celebrities hide in plain sight."
The accompanying article challenges semi-closeted celebrities like Foster and Cooper to publicly address their sexuality. The magazine mentions other gay stars in Hollywood including David Hyde Pierce, Wanda Sykes and Sean Hayes. The article points out that singer Clay Aiken has become “adept at deflecting questions about his sexuality” but “hardly denies it anymore.”
Foster, 44, has been in a relationship with Cydney Bernard since they met on the set of "Sommersby" in the early 90s. The couple has two sons, Charles, 8, and Kit, 5.
