"300" is a stunning visual movie chocked full of blood, gore, sweat, dirt, missing limbs, heads flying, testosterone, sex, violence, nudity. corny dialogue, hot men with 6 pack abs, hot men with 12-pack abs, hot men in skimpy leather briefs.
It's a guy flick. It's a chick flick. What's not to like? This film is awesome and the buzz on it is worldwide.
“300,” is be based on one of Frank Miller's graphic novels, is a version of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., when some 300 Spartans held off a million-man army of Persians, lorded over by the mighty "god-king" Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro).
Gerard Butler plays Leonidas, King of the Spartans and leader of the 300 Greek soldiers whose suicidal stand forms the basis for the historic legend, the graphic novel, and the film.
300 opened to $70 million last weekend and is now set to rock the record for biggest second weekend by an R rated movie. With 300 expanding to 3270 theaters in the US this weekend it will be difficult to knock it from the #1 spot. The film has already brought in more than $85 million, and should hit the $100 million mark by Sunday.
