Maggie Gyllenhaal will replace Katie Holmes in the next Batman installment reportedly because the producers wanted a stronger actress to play the female lead.
Maggie will join costars Christian Bale, who plays Batman, Heath Ledger as The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart as crime boss Two-Face in "The Dark Knight".
According to insiders, Maggie will take over Katie's Rachel Dawes character rather than becoming a new and distinct love interest for Bruce Wayne.
In addition to Bale, Ledger and Eckhart, Maggie will be joining other impressive castmembers Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in what will surely be a major hit in 2008. It is no loss to the Batman Series to see Kate depart since she was regarded as the weakest link.

As much as I like Maggie Gyllenhaal I would have liked to have seen Tom let Katie do this movie.

Are you kidding me? Katie can't act to save herself, she was the only thing that sucked about Batman Begins. I am looking forward to seeing the new movie with an actor who deserves to be on the screen with Christian Bale..
