"We're just so misunderstood," said Dina Lohan, trying to deflect criticism that she's a party mom and hand-off manager to her meal ticket, Lindsay Lohan, who at 20, has been battling drug and alcohol problems for years.
"Oh, the party mom, the party mom, the party mom!" Dina says. "Whoever said that, my ex-husband or whatever, I'm not the party mom!"
"I just want the truth to be told!" she told OK! magazine. "We are a strong family unit. As a single mom I couldn't be more proud of my children! We are truly blessed."
"I was in the business, and I'm going to help them," she said of her stage mom role to her kids."You don't like that? I'm living the American dream."
Dina's been having a tough time getting her side of the story out - she's hitting all the mags for interviews, but she was also just unceremoniously booted from her scheduled guest spot on "The View," reports E!. Apparently, co-host Rosie O'Donnell made it clear live on the air this week that she was no fan of Dina's mothering skills.
"Listen to me: Lindsay would drag me, literally drag my loser butt (to a club) and say, 'I need you to know who these people are,' " Lohan, 44, says in an interview in the April issue of Harper's Bazaar. "Yeah, she trusts my judgment. She's in such a whirlwind; she's in a tornado. I mean, we're talking serious earthquake, you know?"
The 20-year-old star checked into the Wonderland Center in Los Angeles in January and has been attending AA meetings. But Dina insists her daughter isn't an alcoholic. "Noooo! She is just a 20-year-old who had to reel it in."
"And she's from an addictive personality genetically," she adds.
