Anne Hathaway is so stressed over her next film "Becoming Jane" that she is threatening to quit acting if it flops. The 'Devil Wears Prada' star, who plays British writer Jane Austen in the film, was nervous taking up the role of the legendary writer and feared critics would mock her attempts at an English accent.
She has reason to be troubled. Why would the director cast an American actress when there are so many British actresses who could have done it?
Anne told Grazia magazine: "If I messed this up, I'd never forgive myself. I might have to stop acting. The key thing was the accent because everybody will be listening for it."
She says, "I had really bad dreams about being chased around and stabbed to death with a quill by Austen.
"I was having panic attacks and would wake in the middle of the night sweating and breathing very heavily because it would have really broke my heart to have messed this one up.
"The pressure only stopped when people watched the film and they liked it. I guess I still need other people's approval."
