New BFFs Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton were recently together discussing their DUIs when Nicole has reportedly told the heirhead that she is terrified of going to jail if convicted. The Simple Life stars, who made up after not talking for two years, were spotted at Mr Chow’s where Paris was seen comforting a distraught Nicole.
A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "She was really freaking out. Paris kept telling Nicole not to worry, that everything was going to be fine."
Nicole was arrested on December 11, after leaving boyfriend Joel Madden’s home, and driving the wrong way down a California highway. Nicole, 25, confessed to officers she had taken Vicodin and had smoked pot.
Since Nicole has previous offenses, including a DUI in 2002, California law states that a repeat offense carries the mandatory jail sentence of five days.
(Yes ... a whole 5 DAYS !)
If convicted, not only would Nicole have her license suspended for one year, she would also be ordered to attend an alcohol education program for 18 months, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related.
Paris recently avoided a DUI conviction by pleading no contest to a lesser charge of reckless driving and was placed on probation. Paris' lawyer Howard Weitzman will also be representing Nicole in her upcoming case.
