Paris Hilton has been sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to drink-driving charges, following her arrest for driving erratically in Hollywood last year.
Hilton, who was also fined $390 and ordered to attend an alcohol-education program, did not appear in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Her no contest plea - the equivalent of pleading guilty - was instead entered through her lawyers.
Paris “is happy that the matter is over”, her spokesperson - Elliott Mintz - said after the hearing.
At the time, Paris blamed the incident on drinking on an empty stomach.
"I had one margarita [and] was starving because I had not eaten all day. Maybe I was speeding a little bit and I got pulled over," she said.
The ‘Simple Life’ reality star was originally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
She pleaded no contest as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. Her probation can be reduced by a year if she completes 40 hours of community service, a Los Angeles City Attorney's spokesman said.
"We felt that this deal was appropriate given the circumstances and we're satisfied with the outcome," they added.
