Pete Doherty is to be cleared of involvement in the death of a man who harassed him at a party, police say.
No suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of actor Mark Blanco have been found by police investigating the incident in which Blanco plunged 30 foot from an east London apartment block. The fall happened after Blanco had been thrown out of a party for harassing Doherty.
“Everyone at the party has been spoken to and no suspicious circumstances have been found. There is no suggestion a third party was involved. Nobody has been charged,” a spokesperson for Scotland Yard says.
"We are continuing to investigate the incident, and once the officer in charge is satisfied, the file will be passed to the coroner. This could happen at the end of next week."
But Pauline Forster, a friend of Blanco’s, says his family won’t accept the police’s findings.
“This is a complete shock. I don't accept this at all. I just don't go along with this, not even one per cent. There are a lot of questions which haven't been answered," she says.
“The family are not going to sit and take this. The police can't just wrap it up easily like that. There are lots of issues which still haven't been settled and the police can't simply accept the word of the people at the party, many of whom had been taking drugs. I am horrified," she adds.
