Unhappy with her second try at paying tribute to Dolly Parton for the "Kennedy Center Honors" TV show, Jessica Simpson has pulled out of the show. Daisy May drew unwanted attention earlier this month when she flubbed the words to Parton's "9 to 5" during a taping of the annual show, grew flustered and fled the stage.
According to the Associated Press, Chestica gave the song a SECOND TRY before the cameras but presumably with an empty auditorium after the audience had left - and she still SUCKED.
After Simpson saw the tape of the second attempt, she asked that it be pulled from the show, which airs Dec. 26 on CBS. "She really wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes," said a spokeswoman for Simpson.
"We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors," said George Stevens Jr., show producer.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like Simpson's singing attempt was so bad that producers didn't want to use the segment and are using the excuse of her pulling out herself. If she really had high standards, she would have learned the lyrics to the song in the first place. As for "idolizing" Dolly Parton, why wouldn't Jessica know the words to one of Parton's biggest hits ever?
