Britney Is 2006's Most Searched For

britney spears and kevin federline photo Despite not having released a record in ages, Britney Spears has managed to pull off being the most searched for term on Yahoo’s search engine for the fifth time in sixth years.

The pop tart’s chaotic marriage to Kevin Federline and divorce helped Britney fight off competition from Shakira (number three), Jessica Simpson (four) and Paris Hilton (five).

Although blonde female celebs dominated the list, wrestling network WWE was the second most searched for term.

is the second most searched for item on Yahoo!.

"Why she keeps ranking top... is beyond me," Yahoo! spokesperson Cathi Early said bluntly.

The deaths of Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin and Anna Nicole Smith’s son were the most searched for news stories of 2006.
