It's great timing for comedian/actor Eddie Murphy who will soon see his career revived with the release of the musical "Dreamgirls" - a film receiving rave reviews and a likely Oscar contender. Murphy will reprise his role as detective Axel Foley in "Beverly Hills Cop IV", according to Variety. Paramount studios is indicating it wants to revive the classic action-comedy franchise for a new contemporary audience, despite the bad box office results of the third film.
Let's hope they bring back Judge Reinhold in Beverly Hills Cop IV as well.
In "Dreamgirls", critics are raving about Murphy's performance as James Early, which is expected to earn him an Academy Award nomination.
He is also repriseing his voice role in the upcoming "Shrek the Third" and he and his girlfriend, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, are expecting their first child together early next year.
