Rapper Snoop Dogg has turned himself into police to face possession of a deadly weapon charges.
Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, surprised police by showing up unannounced with his lawyer at the Orange County jail, near Los Angeles.
"He turned himself in this morning," county sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. "He was booked, fingerprinted, had his photo taken and an arrest report was filled out."
Snoop was bailed for $150,000.
A warrant for the hip hop star’s arrest was issued following an incident at Orange County John Wayne Airport on September 27 when a collapsible baton was found by officers in Snoop’s laptop case as he tried to board a plane.
Snoop insisted the baton was a prop for a video he was about to make and was unaware it was illegal to take it on a plane.
The rapper’s new album, 'Tha Blue Carpet Treatment', hits stores on November 21.
