Ryan Phillippe spoke about how his demanding work schedule was damaging his family life a month before Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce from him.
The ‘Crash’ actor told ‘Interview’ magazine just a few weeks before the couple’s shock split that not being around because of his acting work was really upsetting his daughter, Ava.
"I had the whole phone conversation with her where I'm getting guilted. She's like, 'You've missed my first day of school two years in a row.' She gives me a harder time than Reese," Ryan said.
He confessed when he’s shooting on location and misses his family, he becomes his character off-set to help him forget his homesickness.
"I think I commit sometimes even further to a role because it leaves me less time to think about those things that make me feel sad, like not being around my children," he says.
"If I can't see my kids, and I'm in another time zone, I have to really live and eat and breathe the work around the clock, because that keeps me sane - I know I'm there for a reason."
Reese announced publicly that the couple had split at the end of October. The ‘Walk The Line’ actress officially filed for divorce from Ryan last Wednesday.
