The Game has been hit with a defamation lawsuit by five North Carolina police officers involved in the rapper’s arrest last year.
The officers say they were libelled and slandered by The Game during a television interview the rapper gave after his arrest comparing his treatment by police to that of Rodney King, adding that he was arrested just for signing autographs in a Greensboro mail.
Mall security officers say the hip hop star, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was cursing loudly while wearing a full-Halloween mask and refused to leave when they requested. They say when police arrived, The Game continued to cause trouble and was then arrested.
Police also say other members of the group were sprayed with pepper spray when they surrounded the officers in an intimidating manner.
The lawsuit also says one of the men lost $7,500 in off-duty pay because he was scared of going back to work at the mall following the incident.
In addition, the officers’ suit also mentions the distribution of a video of the incident.
One website promoting the DVD says it shows The Game being “wrongfully arrested and brutalized by the police“.
