Nick Lachey has told his ex-wife Jessica Simpson he’s ready to wed his new lover Vanessa Minnillo, because he didn’t want her to hear it from anyone else - according to reports.
The former ‘Newlyweds’ are set to have been on the phone for 40 minutes during the confessional call, in which Nick reportedly told Jessica: "I'm getting married again, Jess and I wanted you to hear it from me."
The phone call was his brother Drew Lachey’s idea, reports says, and Nick agreed as he still cares for his ex-wife and didn’t want to upset her.
"She knew Nick and Jessica were serious, but this threw her for a loop," a friend of Jess’ says. "She did her best to contain her emotions."
While it’s claimed Nick and Vanessa could be married by the end of the year, Nick's rep has denied the phone call ever took place.
