Riverdance superstar Michael Flatley is reportedly seriously ill in a London hospital suffering from a mystery illness. The Lord Of The Dance star became sick with a viral infection while rehearsing for the show's forthcoming European tour.
Stressing that the 48-year-old dancer's condition was not life threatening, spokeswoman Geraldine Roche told Reuters that Flatley had been in a private hospital for about two weeks.
Father Aidan Troy, a close friend of Flatley, says of the reports, "I'm shocked. Without being unkind he's not 18. I thought initially it may be exhaustion or stress."
Flatley's website posted this statement: "Celtic Tiger Touring Inc. has cancelled all European dates for Celtic Tiger starring Michael Flatley due to serious illness. He remains in hospital and unavailable for comment."
The 49-year-old dancer married his Celtic Tiger leading lady Niamh O'Brien just last month and the couple recently announced she is expecting a baby.
