Hilary Duff’s generosity towards Hurricane Katrina victims has been praised by charities.
The singer/actress bought 200,000 meals for two refugee shelters in Houston, Texas. She bought the meals through the charity Usa Harvest, who will sent them to the shelters where victims of the 2005 disaster are still recovering.
"Hilary has set an extraordinary example with her generous contributions to the Gulf Coast victims of last year's tragic hurricanes,” Usa Harvest chairman Stan Curtis says.
"With her current contribution, Hilary will have donated over 2.7 million meals to the victims who still need these generous donations."
Duff has previously been involved with relief work for the charity. On the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in August, she travelled to New Orleans, Louisiana with Curtis to visit and aid hurricane victims.
