Hilary Duff and Joel Madden have split up after dating for almost two and a half years.
The Good Charlotte star announced at Chicago’s Enclave nightclub last week that he and the 19-year-old actress had broken up.
He blamed the split on the eight year age gap between them.
Joel “seemed pretty upset”, a DJ playing a set at the club revealed.
“I can indeed confirm that Joel is single,” Good Charlotte’s manager says. “ We are not going to elaborate on Joel’s personal life but I will say they have split.”
Although the couple were together nearly two and a half years, they only went public with their relationship after Duff’s 18th birthday.
