Frances Bean Cobain was mortified when she logged onto an internet gossip site and read horrible comments about her appearance last spring.
Her mother, rocker Courtney Love, promoting her tell-all memoir, "Dirty Blonde: The Diaries of Courtney Love", told an audience on "The View" yesterday that her 14-year-old daughter has had a tough time growing up as a famous offspring.
"I'll tell you a story about being a famous kid, that I think really brought it home to me," Courtney said. "We went horseback riding on Mother's Day, and there were paparazzi coming at us from the bushes, everywhere, whatever. She went on one of those awful new websites, The Defamer, and she looked at the comments about herself."
"I came home and all the food in the fridge was in the trash. It was just such a nightmare," she said. "
I said, 'Frances, you know they say that stuff about Julia Roberts, they say that stuff about Heidi Klum, I mean, you can't take it seriously.' That's part of what is added to her life."
Not to defend Defamer but but I think Courtney probably meant Perez Hilton - he posted the boring horseback riding pics. (Must have been a slow gossip day.) But it was in the comments, not from Perez, where someone was low brow enough to say something cruel and stupid like Frances is fat.
Frances is still an adorable kid and Nirvana fans wish only the best for her. Who doesn't like Frances Bean?
