Eminem had said he wanted to stay away from Hollywood after the successful "8 mile" but the chance to play gunslinger Palladin in a remake of the 1950s TV Western "Have Gun Will Travel" has changed his mind.
Sounds like it will be a different kind of "western" though - the rapper is also reportedly doing some of the music for the movie - and it will be filmed in Detroit.
"When this property essentially became available we discussed it and brought it to Marshall and he was very intrigued and excited about the concept," Em's rep said.
It's believed that the concept of the TV series will be updated to contemporary times and Eminem (real name Marshal Mathers) will play Paladin as a bounty hunter rather than a gun-for-hire. The movie might be filmed in Detroit, but details have yet to be worked out. With all these changes, why call it a remake of "Have Gun Will Travel"?
