Britney Spears has filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, Los Angeles court officials have revealed.
Court documents blame the split on "irreconcilable differences". The papers also state 24-year-old Britney will seek custody of the couple’s two children - Sean Preston, who was born last year, and Jayden James, who the singer gave birth to in September.
The pop tart and wannabe rapper’s marriage has been under intense press speculation since the onset, with divorce reports going into overdrive for the last few months.
Last December, Spears’ spokeswoman Leslie Sloan blasted reports that the pair were splitting and Federline was seeking a $125m divorce settlement.
"The story is untrue and hurtful," she said. "They are as normal as other couples. They fight, and they make up. They are fine and happy."
At least the marriage out-lasted Britney’s previous marriage. Her marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander, was annulled two days in 2004.
