Beyonce's pop, music manager Mathew Knowles, is behind the new release of "Kids Rap Radio Vol.1 & 2" which is the first release in the Kids Rap Radio series. It's touted as a cleaned up version of popular rap songs. The music is there, only the words and themes are changed.
" With the hip-hop industry constantly being scrutinized for lyrical content," he says, "‘Kid’s Rap Radio allows young hip-hop fans to be positively influenced by alternate, kid friendly lyrics of songs by top rap stars."
"The messages are positive, there's no profanity, and younger hip-hop fans will enjoy these versions of today's hottest rap songs."
Kid's Rap Radio Volumes 1 & 2, a double-disc collection which includes versions of “Go DJ”, “Laffy Taffy” and “Touch It”, and Kid's Rap Christmas are part of a new series of children's music that offers clean versions of mega hits. The songs are mostly sung by kids but some tracks feature guest performers Steve Walsh (The Wayne Brady Show, The Parkers) and Lil Max$o.
"Kidz Bop has had this concept for years and has used some Destiny's Child and Beyonce records, so it's always stayed on my mind," Knowles told MTV News.
He says he received all of the proper permissions to change the songs, and told MTV that the artists have been supportive of the concept. "A lot of them have kids themselves, so they understand. It's actually establishing hip-hop to kids at a very young age. That's the positive [aspect]. Hopefully we get some rappers of the future out of this."
The CDs are set to be released on December 5th.
